S’Expres, también conocidos como Victim of the Ghetto, fue un grupo de música de baile británico que tuvieron su gran momento a finales de los 80, brindándonos uno de los primeros éxitos del acid house.

“Theme from S’Express”, basada en la canción de Rose Royce “Is It Love You’re After”, fue una de las canciones pioneras en usar samples y logró llegar a lo más alto de las listas británicas (número 1) o ser número 2 en Alemania durante 1988.

Después de este éxito, sacaron en 1989 el primer álbum llamado “Original Soundtrack” que consistía en varias versiones del propio “Theme from S’Express”, otros éxitos como “Superfly guy” y “Hey music lover” y nuevos temas.

El líder del grupo era el DJ productor y remezclador Mark Moore junto a Michellé, Mark D, Jocasta y Pascal.

Para la publicación del segundo álbum, “Intercourse”, el grupo se redujo a Mark Moore con una nueva vocalista y Dj Sonique. De este álbum no consiguieron apenas éxito, tan solo “Nothing to lose” fue la única que destacó.

Sonique, que ya era una famosa DJ, se embarcó posteriormente en una carrera en solitario que le fue de maravilla consiguiendo gran éxito a finales de los 90 con canciones como “It feels so good”, “Sky” o “I put a spell on you”.

Moore siguió en el mundo de la música por su cuenta y también formó una banda llamada “Needledust”.
